Eligibility and key conditions
- You are Spanish tax resident if you spend more than 183 days in Spain in a calendar year, or if your main centre of economic interests is here. Residence is presumed if your spouse and dependent minor children live in Spain (Ley 35/2006, art. 9).
- The special regime for inbound workers (“Beckham law”) applies only if you were not tax resident in Spain in the previous 5 years and moved for a qualifying reason — such as an employment contract, remote work, becoming a company director or an accredited entrepreneurial activity. It covers the year of the move and the next 5 (Ley 35/2006, art. 93).
- Residents with foreign bank accounts, securities and insurance, or real estate file Modelo 720 for each category worth more than €50,000; afterwards, only when a total rises by more than €20,000 (RD 1065/2007).
- Self-employed people generally file Modelo 130 (income-tax prepayment) and Modelo 303 (VAT) each quarter (Agencia Tributaria).

What’s not included

Who carries out the regulated work
A tax advisor (asesor fiscal) gives the tax advice and files the returns; for Bizkaia residents, filings go to the Hacienda Foral de Bizkaia rather than the AEAT.
Questions about this service
Am I eligible for the Beckham Law?
It’s aimed at people becoming Spanish tax residents who haven’t been resident in recent years, often via employment or the digital nomad route. There are deadlines after you arrive — talk to us early so the window isn’t missed.
What is Modelo 720?
An informational declaration of assets held outside Spain (accounts, property, investments) above certain thresholds. Missing it can be costly, so we flag it as part of your onboarding.
