Temporary Protection (Ukrainians) in Tenerife
Canary Islands
There is no reception centre in the Canary Islands. Applications from Tenerife go through the Oficina de Extranjería de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and the follow-on registrations — social security, health card, jobseeker — are separate appointments rather than part of one visit.
Distance is the defining constraint. Travelling to a mainland CREADE means a flight, so in practice the island route is the only realistic one, and the file needs to be right first time. The compensation is that the island's economy is service-heavy and seasonal work is accessible, and the Canary tax regime makes self-employment a genuinely different calculation from the mainland once you are working.

Questions about this service
Is temporary protection processed more slowly in the Canaries?
The legal process is the same everywhere. What differs is that the mainland reception centres bundle several registrations into one visit and the islands do not, so the same result takes more appointments here. Preparing the whole set of documents up front is what closes that gap.
If I start working here, does the Canary tax regime affect me?
As an employee, barely — your employer handles it. As self-employed, very much so: IGIC applies instead of mainland IVA, and registering on mainland assumptions is a correction you will have to make at the first filing rather than a harmless mistake.
